Consultancy
Consultancy is a widely available service on offer from most companies and from big management consultancies like KPMG. The service that I offer, however, is based on my ongoing practical experience of operating at the top of the ISO 9001 certification industry for 12 years and before that as a Quality Manager in more than one company tasked with achieving quality standards for my own organization. I have both done it and assessed other's capacity to do it within some of the most quality conscious organizations in the world and within some of the smallest and across a wide range of different industries. I am particularly proud of my experiences in Japan at companies such as Yokogawa and Hitachi who seem to have genuinely been grateful for my approach. I also have five years experience as an employed consultant offering exactly these services to my employer's clients, and in being responsible for a small team of consultants, 20 strong I am also acutely aware of business pressures and the limits to quality assurance as an offered panacea for a company's ills. This latter experience comes after having been a 3rd party auditor, which I would submit is rare amongst quality consultants.

Capabilities
Consultancy can range from an initial appraisal and help with the planning of a quality programme, an infrequent review activity to ensure the programme is on track to a more direct involvement in the development of appropriate standards, systems and processes including interim quality management to help develop, sustain and institutionalize a QMS. The ability to offer related services such as audit and training can round out the programme to develop a fully joined up, effective and efficient QMS.
