| Training
The training service involves the creation and delivery of a tailor made
course or series of courses as in house events designed to complement
the audit and consultancy services. As I don't offer accredited courses,
most of the training service I offer is usually delivered in conjunction
with another service although I am developing a TickIT one day Masterclass
aimed at newly qualified or aspiring TickIT Auditors, to impart the benefit
of my years auditing software organizations all over the world. The current
intention for this course is to deliver it in partnership with at least
one other long standing TickIT auditor and will be heavily interactive,
full of debate, anecdotes, mishaps and amusing stories as well as I hope
informative tips and material designed to improve performance.

Key
Benefits
The key benefits are:
- Training
is provided in conjunction with a company's other preparation for ISO
9001 approval, and the course material can refer to actual company experience
and the company activities can influence the training in a seamless
way.
- Training
can be tailored to the company's needs and incorporate the company's
own business goals and materials far closer than an independent specialized
training provider would be able or willing to do
- Training
can be reinforced by follow on activities such as accompanied audit
coaching and supervision of the company's own audit team

Capabilities
As
part of my personal development with LRQA I trained as a Trainer and was
certified to provide training to LRQA's customers on a commercial basis.
Since then I have delivered training for LRQA on a number of their accredited
courses in the areas of my expertise, which is audit, including the 5
day lead assessor courses, ISO 9000 and software quality assurance. Later,
I became involved in developing suitable one and two day courses for LRQA
and delivering them. In a subsequent role as software process champion
with a large R & D Organization I delivered training on a variety
of process related subjects. Here too, as part of my service responsibilities
I was involved in developing and delivering courses for this company's
clients including the UK AWE and the UK Hydrographic Office. In 2000 I
became involved with helping RMCS Shrivenham, part of Cranfield University,
to develop the Quality Assurance modules on their Information systems
degree courses including their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
In this capacity, I became a visiting lecturer at the college and have
delivered lectures there, mostly to military officers ranking from Major
to Lt Colonel, on a number of occasions. |

Process
Assurance
The concept of processes at the heart of a QMS was introduced seriously
into ISO 9001 for the first time in the 200 version of the standard. This
briefing is designed to explain the new concepts and their implications
for continuing certification, and how the company can use the process
concept to improve the design of their QMS and make it more "joined
up" with top management objectives and business concerns. |

SQA
Software has always claimed special pleading from the QA community and it
does indeed have some characteristics that make it difficult to control.
This course deals with the concepts of systems and software Engineering,
project management and iteration, including the challenges of new methodologies
such as DSDM and XP and how quality assurance responds. |
